Why Are Young Children Using faceBook?

Peer pressure is a great thing isn't it? Where one leads others follow, unfortunately this is now starting to happen with FaceBook. Where as Bebo was always the social network of choice for younger children (despite having a 13 year age limit!) many are now making the move over to FaceBook. It only has to start with one who then e-mails invites to their other friends, suddenly kids feel like they're missing out if they're not on the new network. Like I said, Peer Pressure, isn't it great?

Why Worry About FaceBook? For a start FaceBook was designed with college students in mind. It is a social network for older teenagers and above and hence a lot of the content (especially the 3rd party apps) available are designed around that theme. Dating, dieting and sex is how FaceBook earns its crust. Just set yourself up an account and see what adverts you get to prove this!

FaceBook is not designed for kids and there is very little on FaceBook that is not only for them, but even suitable for them. Bebo, although not originally for children appears to have adapted to the majority of its audience offering the sort of applications and tools that kids love to use. That doesn't exist on FaceBook, it's not child friendly and your children shouldn't be using it.
